Buying A Car From GM (Government Motors)

So Obama can now hire and fire people in private industry (Rick Wagoner forced to resign GM). And we are now expected to believe that Obama and his court jesters in Congress will do a better job of running the company than those who have done it for a living...unbelievable. Most Congressmen have been in politics all of their professional lives and have no clue about running a business--look how they've run the country, deficits so huge that it will take generations to pay off the debt. Everything they touch, every program they come up with fails miserably and any monies associated with them disappear into a black hole (look how long we've been funding the poverty program and the numbers of the poor increase each year).

My take on this latest development: I didn't trust Obama enough to vote for him; I don't trust him and his minions to run any private industry. General Motors will never see a dime from me as long as it allows the government to interfere with it's business decisions. Besides, would you buy a car from Obama?

Stand For Something Or Nothing At All

The University of Notre Dame is not backing down from having Obama speak at their May 17th commencement ceremony. This, despite the fact that he is without question the most anti-life President of our time. His voting record in the Senate will bear this out, especially his stance on late-term abortion. Nearly 65,000 people have signed an online petition in protest, saying the president's views on abortion and stem cell research "directly contradict" Roman Catholic teachings

Notre Dame is a Catholic University; Catholic doctrine is unmistakeably pro-life. That principle cannot be comprised. So my question is: Why play politics? Admit that you made a mistake in judgment and move on. But no, in a statement issued Monday, the Rev. John Jenkins, Notre Dame's president, said Obama will be honored as an "inspiring leader" at the commencement.

Does Jenkins also realize that Obama's administration is about to pass legislation compelling Catholic hospitals to perform abortions, under penalty of losing funding? The so called "conscience clause" is under assault, even though Catholic hospitals make up a third of the nation's hospitals.

Notre Dame--don't cherry pick what principles you stand for. Unless you support each one, unequivocally, then you support none at all.

Now It Begins

Obama's not a Muslim...right? Well, according to the Denver Post he has begun his own "Muslim Affirmative Action Program" by seeking Muslim applicants (45 names submitted thus far) to be placed on the White House staff. J. Saleh Williams, program coordinator for the Congressional Muslim Staffers Association, sifted through more than 300 names as part of the search. (How is it that we have a Muslim Staffers Assoc in the White House?)

This is exactly the kind of thing that the Muslim brotherhood has advocated--getting power inside the government and destroying it from within. We are moving toward self-destruction, all the while patting ourselves on the back for demonstrating how understanding and diverse we all are.

Obama is a dangerous man who needs to be held in check. Do everything possible to thwart his radical promise of "change."

Too Far The Other Way

East Shore Middle School in Connecticut has banned all physical contact among students, to include hugging, hand shakes, and high-fives. This knee jerk reaction stems from a student who was injured from a kick to the groin. The principal, Catherine Williams, took this radical step explaining, "Observed behaviors of concern recently exhibited include kicking others in the groin area, grabbing and touching of others in personal areas, hugging and horseplay. Physical contact is prohibited to keep all students safe in the learning environment. Potential consequences and disciplinary action may include parent conferences, detention, suspension and/or a request for expulsion from school."

I recognize the need to provide for children's safety while they're in your charge, but this is an extreme measure. To ban any contact because a few idiots exhibit bad behavior is as wrong as the acts in question themselves. Children are creatures who need physical contact (just like adults), whether it's a gentle touch or rough horseplay, but touching is part of human nature. A hug, a pat on the back, playing tag on the playground at recess--touch football--to disallow all of these activities will create an unrealistic environment and expectations that can have an adverse impact on the maturation process. Where are those with common sense? How can one scatter-brained person in charge change the whole dynamic of school life?

The Oakland Shooting

No political satire or rants today.
Saturday in Oakland, CA, four police officers were gun downed while in the performance of their duties. The offender, a 26 year old parolee, decided that he didn't want to go back to jail so he chose to kill those who are sworn to protect all of us. America lost a handful of heroes; families lost fathers, brothers, and sons.
So much press is given to so few cops who occasionally make mistakes; never enough to their daily acts of heroism, kindness, and compassion. If you're one of those who are uncomfortable around police officers, one who may cringe when you see those blue lights in your rear view mirror, pause for a moment and think about your life without these valiant men and women on the front lines, 24-7. Think about the piece of mind they afford you by doing things like the four officers in California were doing Saturday. Then, pause once again to give thanks to the Lord that they toiled as His warriors while here on earth. May they rest in peace.

Taking Whatever They Want

So the Einsteins in the House voted to tax the bonus money over at AIG...this fiasco gets worse each day. First, our members of Congress voted for this Stimulus Bill without ever having read it, now they vote to tax only a select few private citizens, singling out certain individuals at a punitive rate. How dare they?

The vote was 328-93 at a roll call on Thursday. Voting yes were 243 Democrats and 85 Republicans. There were 6 Dems and 87 Repubs that voted no. My home state of Virginia had everyone from both parties voting yes. See how your reps voted here: results. Shame on you Repubs that drank the kool aid.

No doubt this legislation is unconstitutional, but what's troubling is the mindset behind it all, especially from Repubs that voted yes. This emerging government is not afraid to take whatever they want from whomever they want. Look for more people to ship their money and companies overseas--nothing is safe in our own homeland.

Hugo Chavez Gets A Foothold In America

Congress is running blindly through this financial crisis that we face in the direction of nationalizing private businesses. The first step has already been taken by bailing out failing banks and then assuming that they, Congress, can run them, even though the money was given to the firms unconditionally. Now Barney Frank and Chris Todd, the nexus in this whole debacle, are about to have a vote taken in the Congress to tax any bonus money AIG gives to some of their employees who just happen to be "private citizens."

Sound familiar? It should--Venezuelan President for life (very Castro-like, wouldn't you say) has done the same thing in his kingdom. He takes over industries and companies under the auspices of making life better for the citizenry. It's very incremental, as I've stated before, and without a huge outcry and civil demonstrations, these idiots will push our country to a place where the founding fathers never intended for us to go.

Hidden in all of this is yesterday's hearings in which the totally inept Barney Frank demanded the names of those who received AIG bonuses. How dare he? That aside, even after he was told that publicly disclosing the names might endanger the lives of the recipients and their families, Frank continued to threaten with subpoena.

Is this the America that we want to live in and leave for our children and grandchildren? My answer is no. My fellow Americans--get on the phone, get on the Internet, write your congressmen and local papers. Don't sit idly by while these dysfunctional half-wits ruin our country.

And by the way, if you will do your homework you will discover that Obama and his sycophants were themselves recipients of AIG money in the form of campaign contributions--Dodd, Frank, Obama--they're in this up to their necks. Wake up folks!

And Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner (Turbo Tax Cheat)--he's still shaking his head wondering how he's going to extricate himself from the noose tightening around his neck....

Sick of Hypocrisy

So Obama and his sycophants are outraged about the AIG bonuses being paid...? Whether the money is deserved or not, remember that it was given with no strings attached. Suddenly, there are conditions? Sounds like politics to me.

And while we're on the subject of outrage...where was it when the Omnibus Bill was signed with nine thousand pork items? Seems to me that pork is the government's own way of paying bonuses to people who are undeserving. Pelosi and Reid, care to comment?

Que Pasa?

Want to ferment divisiveness, mistrust, and promote illegal immigration? It seems that's what Walmart is about to do by announcing that it will build its first supermarkets this summer that cater to Hispanics. The new name: Supermercado de Walmart; one each to be built in Arizona and Texas. The staff will be bilingual. And don't forget Sam's Club...called Mas Club, to be built in Houston.

I see no problem in merchants stocking their shelves with products that cultures use and enjoy. But I do see a problem in creating a sub-culture that promotes a different nationality and supports people who refuse to become part of the country in which they choose to live.

I hope Walmart's experiment fails.

What About Life?

As part of the Omnibus Bill, Obama signed legislation authorizing government money for stem cell research, which means the destruction of human embryos. Surprising...? Not really, when you consider that Obama supported partial-birth abortion while he was a Senator from Illinois. Words have meaning. When I hear him throwing around words like "change, hope, respect," I know now that coming from him they're just words. It's becoming obvious that Obama does not care about the common man, as he professed during his campaign. The stage upon which he appears is for one man only--Obama--and the one-man play in which he stars is for a singular purpose: power. Life? It's a thing to be discarded. Such a huge disappointment this man is becoming....

Too Close For My Taste

The Obama logo and the Pepsi logo...too much similarity there for me. No more Pepsi products in my house until they get away from the current product ID. Obama sickens me enough; I don't need a reminder of him on soda cans and bottles.

Bit by Bit

Here in my home state of Virginia, the Democratic Governor, Tim Kaine, signed a bill yesterday banning smoking in restaurants throughout the state. I am firmly against smoking; I especially dislike it in eating establishments. What I do not support is any legislation that mandates how a business owner runs his private business. If people have a problem with smokers in a restaurant, they will let the owner know it by not patronizing his business. We don't need the government to tell us that smoking isn't healthy--people have already figured that out by themselves.

This is just another incremental move toward "Big Brother," the Orwellian model that will have government dictating our every move--what we can eat, what we can drive, what light bulbs we can use, and on and on. Pay attention, my friends, this is how it's done, little by little, bit by bit, until most of our freedom of choice is taken from us. Wake up, America!
